About Gwen

Gwen tracks emerging technologies, purchase platforms and new physical formats that are recasting shopping rituals across the globe. Particular interest in the impact of Voice driving fulfillment shopping while Visual Search inspires exploration of new lifestyle ideas.
While running WPP’s Global Retail Practice for over 18 years, Morrison was responsible for extending the company’s leadership in the future of commerce and providing added value through client and industry initiatives. She supported global resources around emerging technologies, particularly voice and visual search that are re-shaping shopping rituals and blurring the lines between content and commerce. While at WPP she launched an iTunes U channel to share high-level retail topics from industry leaders. In addition, she is a partner with Candezent Advisory.
As a commerce trends expert Morrison identifies issues critical to retailers and brands for business audiences in the form of presentations, webinars, playbooks and reports. This work inspires industry stakeholders to innovate for the new era of unified commerce where data drives brand content, product innovation and transforms future access to goods and services. In addition, she serves as an ambassador for the Open Voice Network, supported by The Linux Foundation.
Gwen has written and presented extensively on retailing with purpose and engaging consumers with social responsibility initiatives. This was in part inspired with a global study she led on behalf of Coca-Cola Retailing Research Council on retailing in emergent markets. Key themes from this work was subsequently published in HBR.
Currently, Morrison writes for The Robin Report and serves on the editorial board of Journal of Brand Strategy (JBS), where she has contributed numerous articles. She serves on the Advisory Board of Fashion Group International (FGI) and is an Endeavor Mentor.
Gwen is a frequent speaker at international conferences including CES, NRF, Latam CongresShop, and Retail Leader’s Forum (Sydney). She also guest lectures at Northwestern University, U of C, Berkeley, and University of Arizona.
