About
I have been writing since my Grade 6 teacher, Mr. Owen Davis wrote “Strong writing! Keep up the good work,” on my first short story assignment. That story, “The Travels of a Quarter,” is still near and dear to me. I plan on revising it one day, just for kicks.
As a kid, I was always journaling or writing in my 5-year diary (the kind with lock and key). I wrote stories and recounted the events of my day on those tiny pages, and then hid it away in my pillowcase. My mother kept up with my writing by invading my privacy on a regular basis. I didn’t realize, until many years later that my diary came with 2 keys. One for me. And one for my mother.
I began writing, as a career, when I was in my 30′s. With all the kids at school, I was bored, so I started writing again. My first attempt at a short story, as an adult, won Honorary Mention in an online writing contest. And, I was hooked. I wrote stories for the kids. Starting novel after novel, and even wrote a little poetry before landing a job at an online publication, writing for them for REAL money.
I worked as a freelance writer, my work appearing in publications such as Women’s Health and Fitness, Baby Years, Journaling, ADDitude, BHG.com, The Gwinnett Daily Post, Gwinnett Living, and many more online and print publications.
As a travel writer, I ate and drank my way across dozens of exotic destinations before finishing my first novel, “Ivy: The Story of a Friendship.”
Today, I have a day job, four kids and a husband, and I’m working on my second novel.
